Who We Are
Woodspring Christian Trust was established in 1991 with three main purposes:
- To advance the Christian faith.
- To help people in need.
- To advance education on Christian principles.
We endeavour to be a prophetic voice to churches in North Somerset, developing the gift of biblical prophecy in its various forms. Additionally, we oversee Bibliotec, a Bible College in Weston-super-Mare, and CuBE, a professional network for Christians in the built environment.
Dr. David Knight (Chair)
David is a Church Elder living in Weston-super-Mare, whose gifting is as a Prophet Teacher. He works as a Transport Planning Director for a consultancy practice in Bristol. David is passionate about whole-life discipleship and recently completed a PhD at Loughborough University entitled ‘A Study of Transport Planning Practice in Large Scale Housing Developments in England’, which reflected his unique position as a Practitioner, Researcher, and Minister. His work allowed for a fusion of the disciplines of Transport Planning and Practical Theology.
David is an experienced speaker, having spoken at many national and European conferences associated with his profession. He has also been a guest lecturer on Master's degree courses at Surrey University and the University of the West of England. Over the years, he has run and tutored several successful industry-approved training courses. David is the Principal of Bibliotec, leading various courses offered, and has also instigated CuBE. He is married to Trish, and they have four children and three grandchildren.
Sam Knight (Treasurer)
Sam has a degree in Theology and Ministry and has spent 10 years as a youth worker in voluntary and employed roles. He now works in IT and is passionate about redeeming technology and utilising it to bring God’s Kingdom.
Jo Potter (Trustee)
She has a degree in Theology and English (Language) and taught Religious Education for many years. During her time as a teacher she wrote and produced dance-dramas and plays for her schools and churches. Jo has also been involved with a Christian music organisation in London, where she sang, recorded and acted, in addition to leading and teaching in church.
As a single parent, Jo found herself engaged in a variety of other jobs and interests, including more study and writing. Since moving to Weston-super-Mare she has worked selling educational books and software, managed a social club for older people, and served as a project coordinator of a town centre chaplaincy. Jo has two daughters, two grandchildren, and is married to Derek, an electronics design engineer.
Jo is passionate about seeing the arts brought back into the Church. Once flourishing, the arts are now too often sidelined or ignored. In response to this need, Jo founded the charity CANAAN – Christian Arts ‘N’ Artists Around Northsomerset. She is also a published author, writing as Jo Buchanan Hay, and aims to sow the seeds of the Gospel through her books.
